Join the Friends of Oldham County Public Libraries for their next meeting on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 1:30pm at the Main Library in LaGrange. The scheduled program topic is “Gardening with Wildflowers,” featuring speaker Tavia Cathcart Brown of the Creasey Mahan Nature Preserve.

Tavia Cathcart Brown is Executive Director of Creasey Mahan Nature Preserve in Goshen, KY, an educator, presenter, writer, and photographer. In addition to being co-author and the lead photographer of Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest, winner of a 2011 Gold Nautilus Book Award, she co-authored the 16-state field guide Wildflowers of Tennessee, the Ohio Valley, and Southern Appalachians. This book highlights her specialty of sharing “flora-lore,” mythology, and medicinal uses of plants. She is serving her second term on the executive board of the Louisville Audubon Society, and was selected as “Today’s Woman” in the September 2011 issue of Today’s Woman magazine.

So many of our native wildflowers are edible, medicinal, or simply beautiful – this is a presentation that Brownsboro and Oldham County residents won’t want to miss.   Contact the Main Library for more information at (502) 222-9713.
