Last year we ran a series on Brownsboro Heroes, featuring some outstanding individuals from Oldham County Police, Fire, and EMS. Each one of these heroes and their colleagues are dedicated to protecting Oldham County and the safety of its residents.
You too can contribute to the well-being of Brownsboro and Oldham County by joining the ranks of these Brownsboro Heroes. South Oldham Fire Department (SOFD) is currently accepting applications for volunteer firefighters.
The fire station is staffed by both career and volunteer fire fighters 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. With only nine career firefighters on staff, SOFD and the Oldham County community depend on a strong volunteer network. Please read more about a day in the life of a SOFD volunteer here.
The application is available for download on the SOFD website. Eligible applicants must be 18 years old and have a valid Kentucky drivers license with a safe driving record. SOFD will also complete a police records check on each applicant.
The new firefighter class begins April 1. Weekly trainings will be held on Mondays from 7:00pm-10:00pm. For more information please visit SOFD online or call the station at 241-8992.
