WINTER TREE WALK
January 31 at 10:00am
With Certified Arborist Chris O’Bryan
The Brownsboro Alliance Trail Association invites you to join us on the trail Saturday, January 31, 2015, 10 a.m. – 12 noon for a WINTER TREE WALK, conducted by Chris O’Bryan of Limbwalkers. Chris is a Certified Arborist and will teach us how to identify trees without leaves. He looks at the bark, the tree’s form, the bud set, how the leaf buds are arranged on a limb and other clues to aid in tree identification. He will be sharing his expertise with us.
We will be spending several hours walking the trail so wear warm clothes and sturdy shoes/boots (those you don’t mind getting muddy!). We will conclude our walk with Chris at the trailhead with hot chili and cocoa. The cost is free to members and $10 per person for non-members.
Chris is co-owner of Limbwalker Tree Service, founder of The Love Louisville Trees Project, and current president of the Kentucky Arborists’ Association. He graduated from DuPont Manual High School, earned a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from the University of Kentucky, and a Masters of Forest Resources from Clemson University. Chris has been a Certified Arborist for 14 years and is a five-time Kentucky tree climbing champion. He is a published author in the Journal of Arboriculture and Urban Forestry: “Economic Patterns in US Arboriculture”. Chris enjoys spending time with his family, hotsprings, and practicing yoga.
RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org if you wish to attend with you and your guests’ name(s) by January 28, 2015. Non-member fees can be collected the day of event. Please plan to meet at the BATA trailhead no later than 9:45 a.m. so we can begin our walk promptly at 10 a.m. We will advise if inclement weather prohibits our walk.
